Your assessment did not go up.Residents received notice this summer of a proposed increase from $1,500 to $1,650. I came to the August budget hearing with specific reductions to keep the assessment at $1,500. The Board ultimately adopted the $1,500 assessment by a 5–0 vote.

A Neighbor who does the homeworkWhat this board has accomplished. Not my credit to take, but you deserve to know. Every number is in the District's public audits.Paid off the debt. A $2.76 million bond, paid in full January 2017.Solved the midge problem. An ultrasonic algae device and a lake aeration project. The $67,578 annual midge contract went to zero the year after.Brought in state money. A State of Florida grant of roughly $586,000 for lake algae control.Rebuilt reserves without raising your assessment. $295,908 in September 2024. Over $765,000 as of July 2026, with a dedicated reserve fund. A hard finding, and a fair one.We didn't argue with it. We moved to professional management, watched the numbers monthly, and reserves have more than doubled since. This September we put management out to multiple proposals, compared them line by line, and selected a new company effective November 1.That transition lands November 1. It needs somebody in the room who knows what these numbers looked like before.
